Food was very good, we started with fried pickles since they are my son's favorite. They were super crunchy with a great flavor. A jalapeno ranch dipping sauce came with them and it was spot on. I had the fried catfish with fries and mixed vegetables. The mixed vegetables were amazing. The fries were good but couldn't match the veggies. My son had the ribeye cooked medium rare and was very happy with it. Overall it was a great experience and we will be back again.

After being starved and overcharged for our entire trip in and around the French Quarter; this place was a breath of fresh air. Exactly what I needed. Great food in heaping portions. I’m considering the hour drive back here for the remainder of our trip. Ray our waiter did a fine job as well.

We were staying at Oak Alley , and asked where to eat dinner. They suggested this place. It has an unassuming decor but delicious food. It’s locally owned. Extensive selection of local cuisine. We had the St. James Crab Dip, Boudin-stuffed Burger, Voodoo Steak, Fresh Green Beans, Roast Potatoes, and Cinnamon Bread Pudding. You should definitely try it if you are in the area.

The menu had a Little bit of everything I was pleasantly surprised for such a small town having a nice restaurant. I went there for lunch. My plan is to try it out for a dinner. The only complaint was, it was so loud that I could not hear the person I was with talking. Hopefully the dinner crowd will not be as loud. It was very disturbing I suppose because local chemical plant managers go there for lunch. They don’t realize how loud they’re speaking amongst each other.

Local recommendation and we were so glad to find this gem after a day of visiting plantations. Highly recommend eating here instead of going back into the poor quality tourist trap called French Quarter. Hubby ordered the Hamburger Steak with green beans and mashed potatoes and was pleasantly met with actual home cooked food with adequate portion sizes and great flavor. I had the California Turkey Club and it was generous and fresh including the bread and the son had the Papas Pig on a brioche bun and again was pleased with the freshness, flavor, and option size. We highly recommend stopping by this hidden gem and supporting the local businesses.

Went to the Laura Plantation late in the daytime, and as we were heading back to the French Quarter at 5pm we stopped here. They had just opened and the Crab St John appetizer is delicious, had the Roast Beef Poboy, wife had the Shrimp Poboy, also order the Mahi Mahi. All very delicious. Overall very good food with excellent prices.

As a food reviewer, I am continuously in search of places that deliver not just a meal, but a memorable experience. DJ’s Grille is one such spot, where the food is not just good—it’s a culinary delight that resonates with both locals and visitors alike. Take, for instance, the fried pickles; they come highly praised for their irresistible crunch and tantalizing flavor. Customers rave about them, often dipping them into the fantastic jalapeño ranch sauce that perfectly complements this classic appetizer.

For the main course, DJ’s Grille does not disappoint. Diners can indulge in favorites like the fried catfish paired with crispy fries and vibrant mixed vegetables, a combination that leaves many guests singing its praises. The ribeye steak is another highlight, cooked to medium-rare perfection, making it a crowd favorite among meat lovers.

One patron, Taylor Mills, described DJ’s Grille as a “breath of fresh air” after a lackluster experience in the French Quarter, noting the heaping portions of great food. The extensive menu features an array of local cuisine that impresses even the most discerning palate. Dishes like the Boudin-stuffed Burger and Voodoo Steak, along with delightful sides such as fresh green beans and roast potatoes, showcase the flavorful essence of Southern cooking.

The decor may be unassuming, but as Leah Norris noted, the true star is the food itself.
